What Is PTA Council?

The St. Joseph PTA Council has 22 member units that represent thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, three high schools and two preschools of the St. Joseph School District.

The Council and all units are members of the National and the State Congress of Parents and Teachers. The Council is in the Pony Express Region of the Missouri PTA.

PTA, the largest volunteer child advocacy in the World, is an educational organization that seeks to unite the forces of home, school, and community on behalf of children and youth.

Council is here to offer resources, training, and guidance if you have any questions or need support.

PTA’S PURPOSE

• To promote the welfare of the children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
• To raise the standards of home life
• To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
• To bring into close relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
• To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
